Before I began porting Humans Lost to PC and Mac (in progress by the way,) I built and textured all assets in 3D to recreate the environments used throughout the game. All objects and scenes were rendered as 2D Tiled Backdrops. Later, I created a motion comic to explain the state of the world portrayed in Humans Lost (which was not integrated into the game due to APK size restraints.)
Though the game is a side scrolling action adventure game, all work was created entirely in 3D. The trailer was built entirely with game art, which might explain the rough edges at times.
Humans Lost, was designed, created and published this game in roughly 8 Month and created by myself and a single programmer. Though it was truncated for the Mobile Device digital download limits of 100 mb or less, the game always had a full version planned.
Humans Lost intro / trailer - Motion Comic
A collage of some of the locations I created for Humans Lost. I created all characters, props, textures and assembled them all into a tile-able scene for final render.
